The tag line on Joan As Policewoman’s Myspace page is “Beauty is the new punk rock” and you know what, she’s got the album to back it up with. The sounds and textures are quite simply sublime and the song writing dreamy. This is a lady who has played with a host of exceptional artists including most recently playing with and supporting Rufus Wainwright. As she said herself “I kept trying to make my music a priority but I loved playing in other people’s bands”. Hopefully she’ll be able to find the time to concentrate on her own stuff a bit more now she’s getting some deserved attention for her debut album “Real Life”.
